The genesis of this project came from the inspirational work of Annie Liebovitz, the American photographer well known for her images of celebrities in extraordinary poses, especially in the publications of Rolling Stone magazine and Vanity Fair.
My musings about Liebovitz’s work evolved into a collaborative project where local artists/creative friends were asked to select a subject, someone known in the community or someone important to them, and to then create a scene in which they would be photographed.
Kristian Haggblom was the photography lecturer at La Trobe University at the time who kindly agreed to take the images.
The images were displayed in Gallery 25 in Mildura in 2008. The names under each image refer to the person who conceived the idea and composed the photograph.
