From 2004 I co-owned and operated a gallery space attached to our cafe on Deakin Avenue in Mildura. It was an excellent way for local and visiting artists to get maximum exposure and for viewers to feel comfortable without the constraints of the formal gallery space. We held approximately 12 shows a year, always leaving November free for senior arts students from two local schools. In conjunction with La Trobe University we were given assistance from professionals in the visual arts department to hang shows. I formally left the gallery in 2016, but will always remember this space with fondness and the joy it bought in working with many creative people.
